Quartet Lab is a string quartet program for junior-high and high-school students led by Quartet Nouveau. Labs are grouped into a set of 4 rehearsals and a recital. Rehearsals occur once every month for 4 months during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters.
During these labs, the students prepare music from various composers of standard string quartet literature including Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms, and many more! We help the students experiment with musical phrasing, dynamics, articulation, intonation, and other musical techniques.
We encourage students of all ages and levels to apply, and we then assign each student to a group of similar ages and similar levels of playing. We coordinate all rehearsals to work around the individual schedules of each member. Rehearsals are held at the houses of the students whose family volunteers to host. . If you have questions about a student's ability to participate, feel free to contact Annabelle Terbetski at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Playing in a string quartet is an amazing experience, and it is the quickest way to improve as a musician. We are excited to offer this opportunity to young musicians!
